Yellowfin News: Ocean Legacy returns to Key West

Ocean Legacy returns to Key West

We recently returned to one of our favorite places to fish, Key West, Florida, to film another episode for season three of Ocean Legacy, presented by Yellowfin.

Veteran Yellowfin pro, Captain Robert "RT" Trosset, put us on the fish as he always does, despite tough, windy conditions. This particular outing with RT was made extra special because we were joined by our long-time mutual friend, Dave Bulthuis, president of Pure Fishing. We had a great time, had lots of laughs, and caught quite a few fish. And as always, the awesome Oceans Edge Resort and Oceanside Marina served as our base of operations. It will make an epic episode and you can check out all the action on this and other episodes on The Discovery Channel, beginning in late September! Here are some more photos from the trip.

And thanks to our generous donors for making the show happen!

South Carolina Wahoo Series ends

This 119.3 lb wahoo was a new single big fish tournament record in this year's South Carolina Wahoo Series Tournament, which Yellowfin proudly sponsors. Team Reel Labor, led by Capt. Marc Pate, landed the massive fish on the first day of the event! With 162 boats competing, the Wahoo Series has become the largest saltwater tournament in South Carolina.

Three official scale locations make it a true statewide event, with weigh stations in Hilton Head Island, Mount Pleasant, and Georgetown. Teams come from all over the state, as well as Georgia, and North Carolina to participate. Lots of big fish were weighed, including a 105.8 lb. fish caught by team Fish Sticks, a single-engine, 23-footer! And team Kalli Cat also scaled a 99.7 about midway through the Series. But Fish Sticks also caught a 71.6 lb wahoo the last week of the tournament, giving the team a 177.4 lb two-fish aggregate and the 2022 Championship! Congratulations to Marc Pincus and his crew for organizing a great event.
