Alexis Virgillito and Taylor Bacot won the March 13 LHSAA High School Fishing State Championship on Caddo Lake with an incredible five-bass limit worth 30 pounds, three ounces.
Repping the Bossier, Louisiana, Parkway High School Panthers, Virgillito is in eighth grade and Bacot is a freshman and their boat captain was Brad Virgillito, Alexis' father. With the win, they qualified for this summer's High School Fishing National Championship and became the first all-girls team to win a high school fishing state championship anywhere in the country. In addition, they set records as the first-all girls team to win a TBF (Bass Federation) event in the nation.
The below video from Bayou Outdoors 365 goes in-depth on their accomplishment with footage from the event, and on-the-water postgame interviews.
