Sailing Chandlery RS200 Northern Tour at Glossop Sailing Club

by Ollie Groves 17 Sep 2021 02:12 NZST 11 September 2021

Glossop kicked off the second half of the tour after the summer break. A westerly breeze blowing over the dam straight down the lake was the perfect direction for a long course, which with the drastic shifts and pressure differences created plenty of passing opportunities both upwind and downwind.

All 3 races saw some very tight battles and lots of position changes throughout the fleet. No one could relax until you had crossed the line with plenty of stressful moments watching people popping up onto the plane behind you or getting on the wrong side of the pressure/shift upwind!

The first race saw Alistair/Helen just manage to pip Ollie/Esther to the final leeward mark to take the win and managed to back it up in the second race with another closely fought race win. Ollie/Esther managed to get one back in the final race however with only 3 races it wasn’t enough.

Congratulation to Alistair and Helen on taking the win and congratulation to April and Alex who won the Sailing Chandlery raffle for the £30 voucher! 2 bullets now for Alistair/Helen means that they will be the ones to beat in the overall series if they can make it to the next events to qualify.

It was great to see some familiar faces back again as well as plenty of new faces which we hope to see again at future events.

The next and penultimate event in the series is at Bassenthwaite for the GNAC on the 25th/26th September where there is usually a good turnout of 200’s so we hope to see you there. Please remember to book in advance on the website.

Thank you to Glossop for hosting the event and to Sailing Chandlery for their continued support.
