St. Francis Yacht Club, located in San Francisco, CA, announced today the internal promotion of Adam Corpuz-Lahne to Senior Sailing Director.

Corpuz-Lahne, who has been with the St. Francis Yacht Club for almost a decade as Head Sailing Coach will now helm all of the Club's sailing departments including Race, Juniors, Docks and Sailing Education.

"I am thrilled to accept this opportunity," said Corpuz-Lahne. "I see it as a chance to help shape every aspect of sailing at StFYC, to share my love of sailing with a larger audience and to continue to support the Junior Program that I have poured my heart into for the past ten years."

In a typical year, the St. Francis Yacht Club's on-water schedule includes 40-45 regattas and 150+ days on the water, with clinics, trainings and weeknight racing. The all-volunteer Race Committee is comprised of nearly 200 individuals who work closely with the Race Department to ensure the Club maintains its reputation for hosting excellent racing on one of the nation's most challenging and most sought-after race venues, San Francisco Bay.

"Knowing how essential this position is to the core purpose of the Club, we conducted a thorough and international search to fill this critical position," says St. Francis Yacht Club General Manager John Meagher. "In the end, the search committee agreed that our best candidate could be hired from within—someone who has matriculated through our staff and has proven to be a steadfast leader and a visionary in the sport. Adam is well-respected by the membership, the staff and the greater sailing community, and I look forward to seeing him perpetuate the St. Francis's reputation for running world-class regattas."

Corpuz-Lahne first joined the staff of the St. Francis Yacht Club in 2011 and has run the Club's renowned junior sailing program ever since, coaching hundreds of competitive young sailors who have gone on to compete in college, in national circuits and on the US Sailing Team.

St. Francis Yacht Club's Executive Race Committee Chair Lawson Willard noted, "Adam has mentored a generation of San Francisco Bay kids to be excellent sailors. But he's more than a coach—he is a true leader in our sport with an unmatched passion for ensuring its future includes innovation, Corinthian spirit, inclusivity and an unwavering love for the sea. I have no doubt these skills and values will translate to him taking our race program to the next level."
