The sailors are hungry like never before, and so are the event organizers. Sundby Sailing Association expects to hold the WOW (Women-on-Water) Copenhagen Sailing Event again this year, and with as much support as before.

Mark your calendar on September 18th-19th, 2021 to be sailing in Sundby, Denmark!

The Sundby Sailing Association is faithfully preparing the tradition to hold the annual WOW event in September, where women from home and abroad meet to sail and socialize. This is the third year that WOW is held in collaboration with Sundby Sejlforening and Sejlsportsligaen. The location is "The Maritime Youth House" which is the perfect setting for the event.

As we all know, it has been a strange year, but it's getting brighter and, therefore, the registrations must now also be opened. In other words, there must be something to look forward to and Sundby Sailing Association also looks forward to being able to welcome the sailors.

Jesper Lorents from Sundby says, "Sundby Sailing Association is proud to welcome you to this year's WOW event. It means a lot to us to be part of this part of sailing that focuses on getting more women on the water. This can be seen in the figures from the Danish Sailing Union. 2020 shows a solid increase in women members in Danish sailing clubs. This is partly due to the great work that is being put into WOW events."

WOW as a concept and as a competition has grown steadily and the demand means that there will be up to 21 teams participating, and over 100 women attending the competition and competing for the big WOW trophy. The last WOW winner, Hellerup Sailing Club (HS WILD), is expected to defend their title.

The sailing concept has not changed and will be the same format as the J/70 sailing leagues in Europe. Short, intense, and fast races and quality time on land. There have been foreign guests from Portugal and Sweden in the past, and the organizers hope to see more foreign women's teams attend!

The competition in Sundby has grown steadily since the start three years ago. The original goal of eighteen teams was easily achieved, having to turn away some teams. Everyone is invited, Danish, European, American teams please apply now! If there are more applications than the 21 spots allocated, the SSA may have to make create a waiting list. So please note: first come, first served!
