The next new Buster models for the 2021 boating season are the sporty and rapid VMAX Edition versions of the popular Buster XL and Buster XXL models. These fast-paced and all-aluminium open boats have been given a boost from high-performance Yamaha V MAX SHO outboards. The equipment has also been expanded with the addition of a larger 16" Buster Q smart display, which previously has not been available on models smaller than the Buster Magnum.

VMAX Edition boats are also comprehensively equipped in other respects. In addition to the high-performance Yamaha VMAX SHO outboard and upgraded electronics, the equipment includes a Comfort package with seat cushions, a Canvas package with weather-adjustable canopy, an Entertainment package with amplifier and speakers, and a multi-purpose waterskiing arch.

In addition to the high-performance Yamaha VMAX SHO outboard and upgraded electronics, the equipment includes a weather-adjustable canopy and a multi-purpose waterskiing arch.

VMAX Edition boats differ from standard models not only by the large screen and red-black colouring of the outboard, but also thanks to a special VMAX colour scheme along the sides.

The Buster XL is 6.05 metres in total length and rated for seven people. The XL was completely redesigned for the 2020 boating season with a focus on practicality, economy and safety in accordance with the traditions of this model. The handling characteristics of the Buster XL are balanced: the hull is stable, while the feel is light and precise. The boat is sensitive to throttle movements, and carefully engineered steering ergonomics ensure effortless handling.

The Buster XXL is a 6.25-metre sports boat with a maximum passenger capacity of eight people and a load capacity of 795 kilograms. Passengers are treated to a lavish U-shaped couch, and there is clearly more space inside than previous model generations thanks to the wide waterline. The new XXL offers excellent handling, and the stable and precise feel gives the impression of a much bigger boat.

Yamaha V MAX SHO outboards

At the heart of both special models is the four-cylinder Yamaha V MAX SHO four-stroke outboard. The Buster XL is powered by a Yamaha VF115XA with a rated output of 115 horsepower, while the XXL is powered by a Yamaha VF150XA with a rated output of 150 horsepower. The smaller outboard has a 1.8-litre 16-valve engine, while the larger outboard has Yamaha's advanced 2.8-litre four-cylinder 16-valve engine.

The V MAX SHO outboards offer better acceleration and slightly higher top speeds than standard outboards. This performance is an advantage, especially when the boat is carrying a heavier load, such as a larger crew and abundant fishing gear.

Both engines feature electronic fuel injection (EFI) for effortless starting, high economy and low emissions. The larger engine also features double overhead camshafts (DOHC) and variable camshaft timing (VCT), which changes the timing of the air intake and exhaust valves to achieve the best performance over the widest possible speed range.

A powerful three-phase charger (35 A for the 115-horsepower and 50 A for the 150-horsepower engine) efficiently charges the batteries even at low speeds. This ensures that there is sufficient power for all the accessories plus, for example, the battery of the electric bow thruster, which is important for fishing enthusiasts. Safety is further enhanced by the Yamaha Y-COP immobiliser and a factory-fitted engine bolt lock.

Buster Q now with a larger 16" screen

A special feature on VMAX Edition models is the larger 16" Buster Q smart display, which was previously not available on models smaller than the Magnum, even as an option. The larger display brings all the boat's gauges, the standard Navionics navigation charts and current weather information into the driver's field of vision.

A separate stereo is not required, as the Buster Q serves both as a radio and as a music bank when connected to smart devices. Owners can also access all boat data and the logbook via the Buster App.

Standard equipment on VMAX Edition models includes a maintenance-free aluminium floor, stainless steel fittings and hydraulic steering. The larger XXL is also equipped with joystick-controlled trim tabs and a U-shaped rear couch.

Fishing enthusiasts can specify a state-of-the-art Raymarine fishfinder, as well as a modular fishing package that enables the XL and XXL to be converted into spacious angling boats. The detachable fishing package includes rod boxes and a casting platform, as well as a bow motor bracket.
