Young Endeavour celebrating 33 years of sailing
by Young Endeavour 26 Jan 2021 01:40 PST
Today marks 33 years since the national sail training ship Young Endeavour was officially handed over to the government and people of Australia. In that time more than 14,000 young Australians have joined 587 voyages, cumulatively sailing the ship more than 400,000 nautical miles.
Our Youth Crew have sailed some spectacular and challenging parts of our country - in the Whitsundays and along the Kimberley Coast; across Bass Strait and through the Gulf of Carpentaria. They have circumnavigated Australia four times, and twice sailed around the world.
More importantly they have developed resilience, teamwork and leadership skills, a connection with youth from around the country, and a greater appreciation of Australians from all walks of life.
We look forward to welcoming new youth crew aboard STS Young Endeavour in 2021, and into the future.
