The first tri-deck Horizon FD92, Crowned Eagle, is delivered

by Horizon Yacht 18 Nov 2020 09:02 PST

The brand new, tri-deck Horizon FD92 has arrived in the U.S. and was delivered to her owners during an intimate christening ceremony at the Horizon Yacht USA office at the Hall of Fame Marina in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Christened Crowned Eagle, the new FD92 is the FD Series' first ever tri-deck design, and features both an interior pilothouse and an open flybridge - a custom configuration requested by the owners.

Maximizing all of the coveted aspects of the FD Series - such as a voluminous interior and expansive windows - the new FD92 features a five-stateroom layout with an on-deck master, crew quarters and a beach club. Outfitted in light satin oak with high-gloss dark walnut accents, the main deck is laid out in the traditional configuration, with the main salon aft and formal dining and galley amidships. The salon offers U-shaped sofa seating with freestanding chairs, and an ottoman-style coffee table. A formal dining area is forward, followed by a fully-equipped galley that can be separated from the salon via privacy doors and a hi/lo glass partition.

In the forward master stateroom, the owners incorporated a his-and-hers en suite as well as dual full-height hanging lockers and plenty of storage. A custom backlit headboard and soffit design was also specified for this area.

Highlighted with a satin white oak finish, the lower deck houses three queen-size en suite staterooms as well as a convertible twin en suite with a Pullman berth. The engine room, crew quarters and beach club are positioned aft of the guest accommodations. The crew area has been designed with a double Captain's cabin and a second cabin with a fixed bunk and Pullman berth to accommodate up to four crew members when desired.

The yard worked closely with the experienced owners to execute several functional and artistic elements aboard the FD92. Carved leather paneling highlights were incorporated throughout, from the salon mullions and buffet cabinet doors to the upper portion of the galley's glass partition. The owners also requested several custom Art Deco-inspired pieces, such as a walnut dining room table for ten with curved, hand carved legs, a custom side table in the main salon, a custom dining table on the aft deck and leather headboards in the lower-deck VIP staterooms. A subtle sunburst theme is continued throughout the design, adding movement to this sophisticated interior.

Crowned Eagle's tri-deck design allows for a helm, L-shaped seating, sunpad and a bar equipped with a fridge and icemaker to be positioned on the uppermost deck, which was constructed of carbon fiber and can be shaded with a bimini top.

Another inviting exterior area has been designed for the foredeck, which features a six-person Jacuzzi, curved seating area, sunpads, fridge/icemaker and plenty of storage. This area, too, can be protected with a custom foredeck shade system.

Aft of the enclosed skylounge - which houses the helm station, lounge seating facing a retractable television, dayhead, desk area and custom ottoman/coffee table - the boat deck features a custom arrangement with an L-shaped dinette and a backlit Corian bar with stools, icemaker, refrigeration, sink, BBQ, commercial freezer and storage. The tender is comfortably stowed furthest aft while under way and the entire area can be cooled by a custom shade system.

Intended for entertaining, the aft deck has been designed to accommodate formal dining for ten at the custom walnut table with the aforementioned sunburst design, with a wet bar on the starboard side and a large built-in sofa with storage aft. The superstructure design led to a proportionate hull modification giving this yacht a 93' 1" LOA and augmenting the already spacious beach club and hi/lo swim platform and watersports area. Built with a 2,500lb capacity, the platform itself boasts yet another ingenious amenity: a separate section that rises and lowers to facilitate water access and toy launching with ease.

Powered by twin Caterpillar C-32 ACERT engines of 1,900hp each, this first FD92 will provide her owners with a smooth ride and island-friendly draft for cruising throughout the Caribbean and The Bahamas.

"Production builders may say they will work with you to personalize your boat, but in the end you only have a couple of choices and can give limited input. Horizon is truly a custom builder," says the owner, Sandy Satullo. Satullo and his partner, Sandra Novaes, made all of the broad decisions regarding the boat's design and interior first with Horizon Yacht USA's office in West Palm Beach, followed by two trips to the yard in Kaohsiung, Taiwan to work with the on-site design center on the finer details and customizations. "Horizon will do as much or as little as you want and you can get as involved as much as you want to," Satullo says. "I was truly impressed with their organization."

The team from Horizon Yacht USA was on hand to celebrate Crowned Eagle's christening. The owners were presented with a custom champagne bucket and monogrammed glasses, a personalized photo book detailing the build and their visits to the shipyard, along with a gift basket and numerous Horizon-branded items and apparel. As the group toasted to the owners' new yacht, Satullo thanked them, saying, "The entire build process was a very pleasant experience and we couldn't be happier with the result."

A second Horizon FD92 is currently in production and expected to deliver to the U.S. in early 2021. For more information on the FD92 or any Horizon yacht, please contact Horizon Yacht USA at or call +1 561-721-4850.
