The 10th Anniversary of the China (Macau) International Yacht Show Import & Export Fair (Macau Yacht Show) will bring the boating lifestyle to Macau from 29 October to 1 November 2020.

Macau, at the crossroads of oriental and western cultures, is endowed with unprecedented potential strength. As one of the pivotal cities in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau- Greater Bay Area (GBA). The Macau Yacht Show (MYS) is celebrating its 10th Anniversary from 29 October to 1 November, 2020 and residents and visitors from the (GBA) will have the opportunity to experience first-hand the delights of the luxury boating lifestyle along with a wealth of watersports activities and family-centred fun.

The four-day event held at Fisherman’s Wharf, is a multifaceted offering with in-water displays of luxury yachts both power and sail, a High-Level Forum for industry and marine professionals, with sailing, rowing and SUP activities for the sport enthusiasts, and a host of family friendly activities which means all age groups are catered for. With a number of anniversaries there is a lot to celebrate; with MYS reaching its 10-year landmark, the first Anniversary of the opening of the Hong Kong – Macau – Zhuhai Bridge, and the 40th Anniversary of Shenzhen’s establishment as China’s first Special Economic Zone.

Organised by the Nam Kwong International Conference and Exhibition Co. Ltd, China National Machinery Industry Corporation Co. Ltd and the China Ocean Aviation Group Ltd, and co-organised by the Macau Trade and Investment Promotion Institute, the MYS 2020 will be held in conjunction with two other major exhibitions, a car and aviation show. All three events are organised by the Nam Kwong Group concurrently, with the China (Macau) International Automobile Import and Exposition held at the Venetian; and the Macau Business Aviation Exhibition at the Macau Airport. The three shows attract a strong audience and have seen substantial growth, especially in recent years. This year, however the show attendance will be restricted to local Macau residents and mainland Chinese visitors from the GBA, due to Covid-19 travel restrictions.

The in-water yacht displays at Fisherman’s Wharf will be a mix of local and international yacht brands. On the sailing side two Hanse sailing yachts (53ft and 45ft) from Germany are available for viewing, and several motoryachts from Chinese shipyards ranging in size from 37ft to 90ft, are open to visitors by invitation.

This year’s half day Asia-Pacific Yacht Industry High-Level Forum on Friday 30th October, will be a live event in Macau but will also be live streamed and include industry experts in Hong Kong, Switzerland and Australia. The three sessions will cover; ‘The Development of Boating in the GBA’, ‘Cooperation of Yachting Industry and Financial Institutions’, as well as ‘the growth of the Marine Economy in the GBA.’

The Pearl River Delta along with the new Free Trade Zone (FTZ) in Hainan, will have an important role to play as China’s engages more positively with the yachting lifestyle. A recent 5-year plan which was recently rolled out by China’s Central Government launches a series of preferential policies that encourage and promote the development of the yachting industry in these FTZs of the GBA and Hainan. In order to seize the tremendous business opportunities arising from the ‘Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau individual yacht travel’ scheme and bring into full play the pivotal role of Macau in the construction of the Maritime Silk Road, the MYS will working together with other cities in the Greater Bay Area in the future to explore suitable regions for developing free ports for international yacht tourism and building the infrastructure for this rapidly emerging marine market.
