Due to the exceptional situation caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, it is with great regret that Sail Canada announces the postponement of all Regional Championships until the summer of 2021 and the cancellation of the 2020 Sail Canada Youth Championships at the Royal St. Lawrence Yacht Club and 2020 Sail Canada Senior Championships at CORK OCR.

Sail Canada is continuing to closely monitor the coronavirus (COVD-19) situation and is in contact with Public Health Canada and the various national and international sailing organizations. Given the evolution of the pandemic in Canada, the recommendations from Public Health, and the recommendations in place limiting travel between regions and provinces, Sail Canada believes that it must postpone/cancel these events to ensure the health and safety of everyone involved.

One of the major goals of the Sail Canada Regional Championships is to create an environment where youth sailors from each region can come together, to train, race, and learn from each other. Sail Canada does not feel it is possible to host these events given the current coronavirus (COVD-19) situation. The ultimate goal of Sail Canada during these challenging times is to keep all members of the sailing community healthy and safe. We look forward to the time when events can resume.

This has not been an easy decision to make and Sail Canada would like to thank our hosts for all of their hard work and dedication. We are looking forward to hosting the Sail Canada Regional Championships in 2021 at Gimli Yacht Club, St. Margaret Sailing Club and Hudson Yacht Club.

Sail Canada will continue to work with Provincial Sailing Associations and Member Clubs to support ongoing development and training opportunities through the 2020 sailing season as regulations allow.

Sail Canada is working closely with hosts and continues to monitor the coronavirus (COVD-19) situation to determine if the Sail Canada Senior Championships and Women's Keelboat Championships will be possible this summer/ fall. If it is determined that these events cannot be run without putting members of the community at risk, the difficult decision to cancel the events will be made.

Sail Canada will make an announcement as soon as any decision is made.
