The very first hull in the Sunreef 50 luxury sailing yacht series recently took part in the Miami International Boat Show 2020 following her owner's bucket-list maiden voyage from the Sunreef Yachts sheds in Gdansk to the sunny shores of the Caribbean and Florida. Navigating the hotspots of the Mediterranean with family and friends before navigating the Atlantic Ocean with a dedicated yacht crew, here, the experienced yachtsman shares the journey with the Sunreef blog.

Dream journey for a luxury sailing yacht

Detailing the extensive travel itinerary of the new luxury catamaran as well as how an unexpected mishap put a small bump in the road, Christian Braun, the new Sunreef 50's owner writes: "As you know, our first trip with PAZ went north from the shipyard in Gdansk, via Denmark to Norway and into the fjords. The most northern port we visited was Bergen. From there, Paz went to Ibiza with a delivery crew as to be on time to make her world debut at the Cannes Yachting Festival in September. After that, we enjoyed the best of the south of France onboard Paz, and went back to Ibiza, our home port, to finish the last details for our first Atlantic crossing.

We started the 4289 nm trip from Ibiza to the Caribbean via the Canary islands and Cape Verde all the way to St Lucia. Paz behaved super well. We had an average speed of 6.5 knots, and the max SOG under sail was 16.3 knots. Unfortunately, halfway over the Atlantic Ocean, the spinnaker halyard rope broke. We could recuperate our Parasailor, which we love very much, but it had taken small damages, and we consequently could not use it for the other half of the trip. Regardless, we made great time on the crossing. If this accident had not happened, we could have made it in 10 or 11 days. Without it, we made it in 14 days."

PAZ continued her journey through the Caribbean, arriving in Miami in January. PAZ's extensive cruising is a true testament to the Sunreef 50 model, proven as an all-around compact sailing yacht ideal for exclusive getaways, charter and transoceanic adventures. Her clever bridge deck and superstructure design allow for a superior level of comfort onboard whereas the generous teak use, high bulwarks and classy lines underscore her modern style with a classic edge.

Busy yacht show season

The arrival of PAZ in Florida marked the continuation of a busy yacht show season for Sunreef Yachts, kicking off the US show season with the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show at the end of November 2019. The yacht show season began in September with the premier three new luxury sailing yacht models during the Cannes Yachting Festival. The 80 Sunreef Power, Eco-Electric Sunreef 60 and Sunreef 50 each made their official worldwide debut at the show, with Sunreef welcoming fantastic interest from prospective yacht owners and industry peers alike. By the end of September, the 80 Sunreef Power joined the Monaco Yacht Show 2019 for the world's premier superyacht showcase.

The Sunreef 50 PAZ was on display in Miami from the 13th - 17th February 2020 alongside the Sunreef 80 yacht Endless Horizon. The owner of the Sunreef 50 yacht PAZ will continue his epic catamaran circumnavigation following the Florida boat shows. Currently based in Curaçao and with many more adventures planned, follow the journey with all the latest from the boat on Instagram at @chasing_paz.
