First Mazu 82 carbon composite superyacht countdown to completion

by Elisa Corti 23 Oct 2019 15:25 AEDT

The first Mazu 82 is rapidly approaching completion at the Mazu Yachts shipyard near Istanbul, less than 12 months after the contract was signed with a Turkish owner.

The current work in progress plans:

  • Installation of teak decking has been completed
  • Volvo Penta IPS engines already installed
  • Furniture outfitting 50% complete
  • Installation of windows are under way
  • Painting starting on completion of interior outfitting
Once launched, the Mazu 82 will represent the Turkish brand's flagship after the successful introduction of its 38, 42 and 52-foot models.

Built of a carbon composite in a lightweight sandwich construction for maximum rigidity and strength, the Mazu 82 combines a clean profile, expansive decks and large hull windows with the outstanding performance, efficiency, handling and manoeuvrability provided by its triple Volvo Penta IPS propulsion system (1,000hp each).

For the first time, Mazu Yachts has collaborated with a dedicated stylist, the celebrated Turkish designer Tanju Özelgin, for the interior layout and design. Working closely with the shipyard, Özelgin has optimised the generous volume and large hull windows to create a vibe of understated elegance.

Combining subtle textures, muted colours, and both direct and indirect light, this vibe resonates throughout the yacht. A full-beam master suite amidships features a spacious private bathroom and a walk-in wardrobe. There are two additional staterooms: an ensuite VIP cabin forward and a double stateroom off the passageway.

The Mazu 82 is due to be delivered in early next year and will make its official debut at the 2020 Cannes Yachting Festival.
