It was clear since the eve of the event that the leg of Barcelona and OneOcean Port Vell was going to be a high-level, competitive stage, as it was decisive for the awarding of the title of Melges 32 World League 2019 Champions.
The premises found full confirmation in the Catalan race course, where the top three crews of the general circuit ranking immediately started fighting for the head of the provisional ranking.
The best boat today is the twice World Champion, Tavatuy of Pavel Kuznetzov: the Russian team chases, in the World Ranking, the leader (after three events) Caipirinha by Martin Reintjes. Russian Bogatyrs, with today's performances, has reopened the games for the Melges 32 World League 2019 title.
Tavatuy starts the day quietly (fifth in the first race won by Matteo Balestrero's Giogi, assisted in tactics by Matteo Ivaldi) before finding the perfect feeling with the race course and placing two bullets in a row in the other races.
Giogi (4-7 his other partial) chases the leader Tavatuy at five points of distance in the standings, while Vitamina (7-3-4) by Andrea Lacorte (with the American tactician Jonathan Mckee) stands in third. The provisional top five in the ranking of this event is completed by Fritz Homann's German Wilma (with Nico Celon) and Caipirinha, with a delay, respectively, of 8 and 11 points over the leaders.
