The 10th Traveller in the series took place on 1st September 2019 at Bough Beech Sailing Club. 26 Topper sailors gathered in this beautiful corner of Kent to do battle over four races.

The day started off with some very shifty conditions giving race officer Don Buckle a tough time in setting the course. At one point in the sequence for race 2 the wind shifted by 180 degrees but Don held his nerve and the wind shifted back in the last minute allowing the race to start.

After a good lunch from the galley the Toppers ventured out again and were rewarded with more consistent wind which allowed the completion of an epic battle for overall winner between Hugo Valentine, Antonio Pascali, Henry Koe and James Crossley. In the end James came out on top.

On the Saturday there was an Open Coaching session were eleven Topper sailors attended. The winds were light in the morning and the three coaches had planned that the winds were due in the afternoon. Sure enough the winds appeared after lunch and the lighter sailors were spending of their time swimming.

At the end of the session there was a fun session on seeing who could sail their Topper whilst standing up and sitting side saddle in the Topper.

Thanks to all the volunteers and parents who made the two days a success. Also thanks go to Bough Beech for hosting the events and our sponsors Rooster.
