Doyle Sails September Regatta at Royal Southern Yacht Club - Preview

Sixty yachts will be racing with the Royal Southern Yacht Club this weekend competing in the Doyle Sails September Regatta, the last regatta of the Royal Southern Summer Series 2018. The regatta incorporates the Performance 40 National Championship. Over 400 sailors, family and friends will enjoy the unrivalled facilities at the Royal Southern Yacht Club. The Prince Philip Yacht Haven on the banks of the River Hamble will be a hive of activity, the Upper Bar and Den's Deck will be the hub for regatta.

The two-day event will have a multitude of boats racing in three IRC Divisions, HP30, Club Class, J/70, Mixed Sportsboat, XOD and One Design Classes. Thirteen Performance 40s will enjoy up to seven races to decide the Performance 40 National Champion.

123 teams have raced so far in the 2018 Royal Southern Summer Series. The Doyle Sails September Regatta will decide the overall class winners. At least 15 series winners will be in action this weekend including: Blair & Beckett's Cobra, Rob Bottomley's Sailplane, Simon Perry's Jiraffe, Martin & Cara Golden's Scallion, Malcolm Wootton's Pegasus DeMarx (pictured), Glyn Locke's Toucan, Richard Cooper's Jongleur, Dirk & Dianne van Beek's Sabriel Jr, Michael Rowlatt's Giuliana, David Hitchcock's Red Five, Terence O'Neill's Aqua J, Patrick Liardet's Cosmic, Peter Baines' Sphex (pictured), John Evan's Evensong, and Mike Lewis' Jester.

The big party night will be Saturday with a supper and live entertainment from Laura King. The tribute to Madonna - the Immaculate Collection, which will playing live at the Royal Southern Yacht Club. Please book tickets (£20 pp) via
