The Para World Sailing Championship entry is open, with the RS Venture Connect the two person keelboat class for the event hosted by Sail Sheboygan and SEAS, in Sheboygan, Wisconsin USA between 16 – 22 September 2018.

Teams that register early for the event guarantee priority for training in Sheboygan. This Worlds will be a formative event for the Class and four provisional training days have been set-aside prior to racing to help competitors gain experience in the boat.

Helena Lucas, Gold and Bronze Paralympic Medallist, will run the training providing two days of short course racing to help teams perfect their skills and tactics. Her top tip for teams training prior to the worlds "Focus on boat handling and short course tactics. Don't get wraped up in rig settings, tuning and equipment. RS are supplying the boats and they will all be identical with the rig settings fixed and not changeable.

The RS Venture's plug and play para options mean the boat can be quickly configured to suit sailors with a wide range of disabilities, making round-robin racing in supplied boats possible.

Configuration for the Worlds in Sheboygan will be the twin seat set-up. RS Sailing has also developed a single seat option with input from Helena Lucas and expect this to play a significant part going forward. It allows more physically able crews to sail athletically and encourages those with varying disabilities to compete together.

The RS Venture Connect is now available at the Andrew Simpson Watersports Centre Lake Garda for teams to use and train with. Booking is available through Jo Preistley – and 07452256353. The boat can also be found on the water in Weymouth, UK.

In August, the RS Venture Connect will be making an appearance within the RS Games, taking place at Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy; the RS Venture will be racing 13-15 August.
