Ahead of the 2018 Para World Sailing Championships this September, World Sailing will run a Paralympic Development Program (PDP) clinic that will be open to sailors to participate in.

The 2018 World Championships will run from 16-22 September at the US Sailing Center in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, USA.

A PDP clinic in the Hansa 303 will run ahead of the Championships for new and emerging countries and for these sailors, World Sailing will cover participation costs and provide coaching support throughout the event.

To be included in the PDP, sailors need to register here before the 15 July and send a support request to Para World Sailing Manager, Massimo Dighe, at para.worldsailing@sailing.org.

World Sailing will support a maximum of two sailors from each country, providing one is female, and participation will be evaluated on a case by case scenario.

Furthermore, World Sailing will support participation by providing travel allowances and free charter boats in the Hansa 303 or RS Venture on a case by case scenario and with a first come, first served criteria.

The Worlds is the ultimate annual event for the best-of-the-best in Para World Sailing and showcases the development of the discipline. This year will have new formats including "Heat style" racing for the RS Venture Connect and medal races in all disciplines.

To date, 26 nations have registered to sail across the four events.

The disciplines and racing format at the 2018 Para World Sailing Championships are:

  • Single Person Keelboat (Technical) – Open Gender – 2.4mr Norlin One Design (OD) - fleet racing with a Medal Race
