Saturday saw the club open its doors for our third RYA Push the Boat Out event and we welcomed over 50 visitors to try out sailing – some of them for the very first time!

A team of members met and greeted our visitors, kitted them out with buoyancy aids and clothing before sending them off down the pontoon to be allocated on to the various waiting dinghies, keelboats, yachts and even rowing boats courtesy of the Burnham Coastal Rowing Club.

Initially the weather did its part and provided us with gentle breezes and a little warm sunshine meaning that all our visitors managed to get out and enjoy a taster session on the water. By lunchtime however, it was a different story with the rain beginning to fall and the wind dropping to leave a dismal day. But with every cloud there comes a silver lining as, standing down from their duties, our team of Push the Boat out helpers were met in the clubhouse by a huge number of visitors who were now bubbling with enthusiasm for sailing and enjoying a welcome cup of tea in the club house!

Several visitors took advantage of our offer of free temporary membership which we hope will enable them to take the opportunity of meeting club members and getting out on the water to either crew or perhaps take one of our popular dinghy sailing sessions on Sunday.
