National Hansa Class TT Series at Frampton on Severn Sailing Club

Following on from last years successful event the Frampton TT was again the first event of the year. There was a total of 17 boats out on the water most coming from the South and Midlands but one sailor from South Scotland Sailability travelled a long way south to join us.
After what seemed like weeks of gloomy weather the day of the TT started fine getting sunnier as the day progressed. Unlike last year there was wind all day starting at 10 mph rising to 14 mph with gusts up to 22 mph. This proved a testing day for all the sailors.
The day got off to a good start with hot drinks and bacon rolls all round whilst the OOD Ken Elsey and his team set a figure of eight course for the first two back to back races. These were closely contested in all of the larger classes, unfortunately in the 2.3 class there were only two boats sailing one of which was from Frampton. The racing was very close and in each case the winner of the first race also won the second.
Then off the water for a lunch break with lasagne and salad, then back on the water for the last two races and a slightly increasing breeze that had veered slightly easterly necessitating a course change. As in the morning the two races were eagerly contested throughout the fleets the overall places changing after each race.
It was good to see at least two people racing who had not raced in a TT event before.
The competitors thanked the club and all the volunteers for creating a great days sailing before driving off into the sunset making the long journey home.
