Calypso Marine Instruments Ultrasonic Portable Anemometer and Data Logger, is available now. A wireless (BLE, Bluetooth Low Energy Technology) and self-powered (solar) IPX8 pocket-sized Ultrasonic Anemometer. Easy to install, simple to use and compatible with iOS and Android devices.

LIGHTWEIGHT AND SMALL

The Utlrasonic Portable weighs only 135g and is equally as compact measuring 57mm high and 70mm across.

TECHNOLOGY

This new product incorporates an innovative energy system, an integrated solar panel that feeds an internal battery. The Ultrasonic stays on for 29 days in normal mode, and up to 1 year in standby without sun/charge.

The Ultrasonic Portable incorporates BLE technology (Bluetooth Low Energy). BLE is the first open wireless communication technology, offering communication between mobile devices or computers and other smaller devices such as a Calypso wind meter.

Compared to Classic Bluetooth, BLE works using reduced power consumption and therefore lower cost while maintaining a similar communication range to standard Bluetooth. The coverage range is approximately 50 metres when in an open space.

BLE version 4.1 incorporates some important developments for the user by facilitating the reconnection between their devices once they come out and re-enter the range of action.

KEY FUNCTIONS

Built with ultrasonic sensors, the Calypso Ultrasonic Portable Anemometer will provide you with the most accurate reading. Allowing a continuous measurement of wind speed and direction.

It is equipped with the following:

  • Ultrasonic Transducers x 4
  • Compass
  • Thermometer
  • Gyroscope
  • Accelerometer
The units come with a M16 female thread, making it very simple to fit and remove, allowing use on multiple boats or training/coach ribs.

COMPATIBILITY

You can use the Ultrasonic with the following devices:

  • Compatible Bluetooth 4.0 Android devices, Android 4.3 or 4.4
  • iPhone 4S or beyond
  • iPad 3rd generation or beyond
  • Run the Sailing Anemotracker App to check compatibility and make sure your device is compatible.
