New, sophisticated, streamlined Prestige 680 S: A French-built luxury cruiser

The new flagship of Prestige's line of luxury yachts, the sleek, Euro-styled, streamlined 680 S comes with three or four staterooms below and a sophisticated, light-filled salon that makes cruising easy and enticing anywhere in the world. A new large sliding-glass sunroof that opens over the salon is particularly striking and is also unusual on a flybridge yacht. But the flybridge on the Prestige 680 S, with a low-profile, extremely-raked radar arch, is located farther aft than usual to accommodate the sunroof, adding to the sense that the boat is moving forward even when it is standing still.

An owner can choose either three or four staterooms, and there is also a two-person crew cabin aft of the engine room. Either way, the master is midships, and is worthy of a luxury hotel with seven-foot headroom. In the four-stateroom version, two staterooms with twin berths are forward; in the three-stateroom version, these two are combined into a suite. The VIP stateroom is in the bow either way.

The salon, with large windows all around, has the galley aft to port to serve guests at an L-shaped dinette to starboard or those at the teak cocktail table in the cockpit. An L-shaped settee is forward, to port, for another relaxing space. Visibility in the salon is excellent all around; the salon also has 6' 6" headroom. As befits a French-built yacht, the 680 S has a sunpad with a dodger on the foredeck, plus bench seating for guests who want to relax there.

Due to its low profile, the air draft on the Prestige 680 S is only 16' 4", which makes it cruising-friendly in many part of Florida and on the Great Loop. Cruisers also will appreciate the door opening from the helm to the starboard side deck, which is helpful in docking or maneuvering through locks.

Powered by twin 900-hp Volvos, the 680 S cruises at 25 knots, with a range of 350 nm, and tops out at about 30 knots. Volvo's IPS pod drives make docking and low-speed maneuvering finger-tip easy.

Specs: LOA: 70'4"; Beam: 17'5"; Draft: 5'2"; Disp.: 65,698 lbs.; Fuel: 911 gals.; Water: 243 gals.; Power: 2×900-hp Volvo D13 IPS 1200 pod drives.
