Entries for the 35th edition of the premier winter sailing event well ahead of this time last year

Hamble River Sailing Club, the organiser of the 35th Hamble Winter Series has announced that in the first two weeks since on line entry opened for the 2016 Hamble Winter Series, boats from IRC1-4, J/88 and Fast 40+ classes have already entered.

The Hamble Winter Series is renowned for offering challenging Solent racing and a great atmosphere ashore. It welcomed over 160 entries in 2015, and is confident of exceeding this number of entries in 2016.

Event PRO, Stuart Childerley, commented: "Over the past 35 years, the Series has become a firm fixture in people's sailing calendars. Entries already stand well ahead of the same time last year, which is an excellent reflection of the importance of the Series to many Solent racers."

This year, the Hamble Winter Series runs from 2nd October to 27th November, with a lay weekend on 30 October. Competitors are welcome from IRC0-4, HP30, J/70, J/80, SB20 and other One Design Classes.

The Hamble Big Boat Championships offers Grand Prix racers with a TCC between 1.040 and 1.300 12 races over two weekends, 8/9th October and 22/23rd October. The first Hamble Big Boat weekend will also host the fifth round of the Fast 40+Class 2016 Series.

The popular Hamble One Design Championships for J/70, J/80, SB20 and other one design classes with a minimum of eight entries, will also be held on the 8/9th October and 22/23 October.

Early bird discounts are available till 20th September 2016.

Running the Winter Series requires a huge commitment from more than 40 volunteers on the busiest weekends. Hamble River Sailing Club is extremely grateful to the Members and friends that give their time to run the event.

This year's Winter Series Crew Party will be held on Saturday 22 October 2016. Tickets are limited and can be purchased from the HRSC Clubhouse, via or on 02380 452070.
