Situated on the eastern coast of the Qatar peninsula, where the unspoiled white sand beaches meet the dip blue of the Arabian Gulf, Doha put a trail into the Middle East and is ready to welcome one of the most exciting events in the territory – the Sail of the Gulf Regatta.

Organized by the Qatar Sailing & Marine Sports Federation in cooperation with Katara, Sail the Gulf is a must-do event that harks back in history counting already 26 years of existence. From the very start Sail the Gulf focus on the development of the sport alongside the country, and emerging Doha as a sailing destination.

It seems that this multi-class international event is well established in the sailing calendar - more than 100 athletes from 16 countries in 5 classes will compete hard these 5 days.

The event started in a great style, as the Optimist Team racing offered low wind conditions racing action. 6 teams cross their swords in a racing format where strategy and teamwork are essential. After 5 flights of racing we have the top 3 teams that might be the winners, Malaysia, Oman and Qatar. The final flight will take place tomorrow...

To add even more fuel to the fire, tomorrow 4 classes will join the action! Don't miss it!
