19 Visitors arrived at Toddbrook SC on a warm spring day. The wind was easterly with the wind building through the day. The sun was shining for all as we set our boats up while eating our bacon butties.

Race 1: The start line was halfway down the lake and was very crowded from all competitors trying to gain the perfect start. Some sailors were trying so hard a general recall flag was raised. After the second start most sailed away cleanly. Unfortunately Tony Woods and Charlie Berry (Etherow) were recalled at the end of the beat, subsequently Tony retired. Steve Blackburn and Nick Hampson (Pilkington / WLYC) Rounded the windward mark first and created a gap from the main pack. Charlie & Ruth Adams (WLYC) were sailing the beat very well and caught and overtook Steve to win the race with Steve in 2nd. Paul & George Graham came in 3rd and Alan & Matt Johnson (SCYC) in 4th. Lunchtime had approached; homemade spicy soup was a little hot for most but enjoyed by the majority. But the selection of various cakes was eaten by all.

Race 2: The wind had increased a little Tony and Paul started well and created distance from the other competitors. Tim & Jackie Finch (Chester) held third for while until Alan & Steve Ploughed there way through the fleet Steve took 4th Paul dropped to 3rd, Alan was the salior of the race taking 2nd and Tony held onto 1st.

Race 3: Soon arrived with any of 5 sailors having a chance of winning the Open meeting. Again Tony and Paul gained the advantage at the windward mark. Steve and Alan rounded in third and 4th. Alan was told he was over the start line and retired. Tony and Paul seemed to be in there own private wind and sailed away from the pack. Steve also created a gap and took Karen Morris and Lisa Woods (Etherow) with him. Tony gained on his lead on the final lap to win the last race and the Open. Paul came in 2nd and 2nd overall with Steve in 3rd and 3rd overall. Karen finishing 4th.

A great day was had by all.
