Five visitors joined representatives from the home fleet for Ripon SC’s Laser Open Meeting, held on Saturday 12 September.

Faced with no wind at all as the competitors arrived everyone was pleased to see a light breeze pick up in time for the first race, which got away on the second start. The wind was to be at it’s most fickle however with patches of flat calm appearing, alternating with breeze filling in from the rear of the fleet. Adrian Sandilands (Dovestone SC) took the gun, followed by Ian Lees (Dovestone SC), and Ed Thomas (West Lancs YC).

The second race started in slightly more breeze but the conditions during the race were much the same as for race 1. Lees took line honours with Thomas in second place. Neil Skellam (Leigh and Lowton SC) was third.

The wind was better for race 3, and remained constant if light throughout the race. Thomas took the gun to finish first overall, with Skellam in 2nd place and Sandilands in 3rd place.

Overall Results:

1st Ed Thomas (West Lancs YC)
2nd Ian Lees (Doveston SC)
3rd Adrian Sandilands (Dovestone SC)
4th Neil Skellam (Leigh and Lowton SC)
