Remember the old "hair-raising-adrenaline-pumping" etc adverts? That was what the 29 Fevas got at times during their Rutland Training weekend. Despite a 'perfect' forecast it was distictly boisterous at times as the photographs can attest.
The clubhouse spectators were treated to some royal entertainment by the National Squad sailors. Some of the entertainment was spotting those who weren't aiming for Olympic swimming teams. Whilst much valiant practice was going on in what were at times survival conditions, the top few were doing some serious showing off with skill levels on display that promise much.
Whilst there were more benign periods and all three squads got in some excellent practice, it was those few hours on Sunday that caused grins to be attached to sleeping faces in the cars homeward bound in the evening. That is what happens when you can nonchalantly chuck in a gybe at 15+ knots boatspeed in 30+ knot gusts!
