Nantwich and Border Counties Sailing Club hosted its first Junior Traveller Competition on 26th June 2004. The Junior Traveller is a handicap series for junior sailors who are on the first rung of the racing ladder and is offered by 10 North West clubs, including Nantwich.

Saturday saw 22 competitors from 6 different clubs taking part in a very windy series of races. There were a good number of toppers, 3 optimists and a laser 4.7 taking part. The day started with force 3 winds building to force 4. Lashing rain at times compounded the conditions. Many of the juniors struggled with the conditions but they worked hard to complete the set courses.

The leader board was a highly competitive affair with the top 5/6 being in close contention for a top 3 positions in all races. A flat boat was definitely a happy boat in these conditions. To close this article, a big thank you must be extended to the OOD of the day and to the support staff who worked hard to make the day a success.
