The Weta is a small high-tech very easily demountable trimaran. It is both a high performance racing multihull and a modern incarnation of the ‘General Purpose Dinghy’, suitable for family days out. It is a stable recreational dinghy suitable for husband and wife two-handed club racing and it is a stable and forgiving training boat suitable for teaching 3 or 4 children the basics of sailing. It is one of the fastest singlehanded racing boats in existence apart from those fitted with a trapeze, foils or hiking racks. The central hull does not ‘fly’ and the boat has been described as more like a Moth with stabilizers than a catamaran. The mainsail has no boom and the reacher is mounted on a roller furler for ease of operation.
