Quicksilver Activ 645 Cabin - all-rounder strikes a chord

by Jeni Bone on 14 Oct 2013
Quicksilver’s 645 Cabin is suited to Australian conditions Collins Marine
Just in time for summer, the Quicksilver Activ 645 Cabin is the versatile, starter boat for family, fishing or entertaining.

A product of US behemoth marine manufacturer, Brunswick Corporation’s European, division, based in Belgium, Quicksilver is fast gaining traction in the Australian market with people looking for pinnacle quality, with an entry level price tag.

Dealer, Peter Collins, says the Quicksilver brand has something for everybody. 'With such a range of 19 boats, it just about has the whole market covered,' says Collins, referring to the variety of models from offshore fishers, ski boats, day boats and cruisers.

'Affordability is the key,' says Collins of this award-winning range, priced from under $30,000 to $200,000. 'Intelligent design and beautiful contemporary styling means these boats offer great versatility for a fun day out, no matter what the use. Responding to customer research, safety has been designed into key aspects of the boat.'

At end of the day, people are looking for quality, adds Collins. 'My catchphrase is quality, styling and price.'

One of the first boats Collins Marine presented to an eager public on the show circuit earlier this year was the Quicksilver 645 Cabin, a neat, Euro-styled, trailerable boat that boasts a generously sized entertaining area with a large teak table that converts into a sun lounge, as well as a cabin with double berth and optional toilet.

Wide stairs allow easy access in and out of the cockpit along with anti-slip stairs to the water and an anti-slip flat canopy storage surface. There’s also an extra high freeboard for added safety and access to the bow is via large steps. A swivel cockpit seat makes it as sociable for the skipper as his or her guests.

Below deck, the cabin comes with the option of a flush toilet, lateral ventilation and lighting and seating that becomes a large double berth.

As befitting such a practical boat, storage is well thought out, with an integrated solution for canvas storage and heaps of additional storage under the seats and fender lockers.

Available in two versions: the Sport Edition – coloured hull with electric blue accent line, cockpit shower and radio with two speakers; and SMART Edition – black and white hull design with electric blue accent lines, stereo, cockpit shower, canopy and enclosure, ski mast and a 12v cooler.

Entertaining, fishing, family fun or water sports, the Activ 645 Cabin delivers the flexibility to enjoy life on the water however you choose.
