The National Yacht Club Toronto is proud to be hosting the 2013 LYRA Annual Regatta. This week long event will run from July 28 to August 4 and consists of two feeder races, one long distance race, a series of course races and a full social calendar.
The Lake Yacht Racing Association (LYRA) is an association of yacht clubs on Lake Ontario, eastern Lake Erie, the upper St. Lawrence River, and the Finger Lakes. It was founded in 1884 and continues to this day. LYRA promotes the sport of sailing at both the junior and senior levels, and contributes to good will among sailors on both sides of the Canada-United States border.
This year the annual LYRA regatta promises to be one of the best yet. Redpath Sugar has stepped up as the title sponsor, the National Yacht Club is providing the perfect location and the boats and fleets are already signing up. So far the regatta has been chosen as the IRC Great Lakes Championship as well as the Olson 30 North American Championships.
Not only will this year have some of the best on the water activities, but the facilities at, and the location of, the National Yacht Club will provide some of the best on shore activities as well. With onsite live music, great food and a group trip planned for downtown Toronto this is bound to be a great event for all involved.
