Global Ocean Race 2011-12 (GOR) is a double-handed, round the world race for Class40 yachts. The race is a total of approximately 30,000 nautical miles.

Alfa Romeo has joined the growing family of GOR Race Partners in an agreement that seals the union between a prestigious and famous sports car designer and manufacturer and an offshore race with a large, highly-competitive Class40 fleet.

Through the agreement with the GOR, Alfa Romeo is the Official Automobile Supplier for the Global Ocean Race 2011-12 via Autolatina S.A. - Alfa Romeo’s official dealer in Mallorca. During a ceremony at the recent Palma de Mallorca Boatshow - an event to which GOR sponsors, collaborators, friends and representatives from the media were present - an Alfa Romeo Giulietta with the GOR colours and livery was unveiled as the official car for the race.

Bartolomé Frau, President of the GOR Commercial Division, welcomed Alfa Romeo to the GOR during the ceremony: 'The collaboration between such a prestigious car maker as Alfa Romeo and Autolatina, and the Global Ocean Race is a clear reflection of the international and global character of this event which contributes to the significant role that Spain is achieving in ocean racing.'

Bartolomé Catalá, Commercial Director of Autolatina S.A., made clear both his personal and his company’s commitment to the project: 'From the very first moment, in Autolatina we were aware of the global dimension and importance of this event, so we decided to work enthusiastically in order to achieve Alfa Romeo’s support and their entry as a GOR Race Global Ocean Race website
