Clipper Round the World Yacht Race - UK entry to be launched

The Clipper Round the World Yacht Race, the world’s most unique and longest ocean race, is officially unveiling its Great Britain yacht on Wednesday 31st July in Trafalgar Square.

The impressively large 70ft long race boat will make a dramatic visual impact in the London landmark, where it will remain until Sunday evening 4th August, allowing race enthusiasts a rare opportunity to get a close encounter with a new Clipper 70 ocean racer out of the water.

What:
This unveiling marks the start of a new global campaign partnership between the race organisers, UK Government and British brands alongside an exceptional human adventure with crew of all ages and from all walks of life.

Clipper Race chairman and founder, the legendary yachtsman Sir Robin Knox-Johnston, who became the first person to sail solo, non-stop, around the world in 1968-9, launched the unique, biennial race for amateur sailors 17 years ago; the unique global event has also grown into a successful platform to promote trade and tourism along the way.

The ninth edition of the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race 2013-14 starts Sunday 1st September from St Katharine Docks, London and will be the biggest event in the race history. More than 650 people will represent more than 40 different nations on 12 brand new 70ft racing yachts designed by renowned naval architect Tony Castro, and will return almost a year later after completing the 40,000 miles route.
