Hard at work at the RNLI Training Pool RNLI
National training managers and leading instructors are encouraged to register their interest in the ISAF Offshore Personal Safety Course set to be held in Poole, Great Britain from 10-12 March 2014.

Sea survival training is an important element of national yacht cruising and racing schemes. With interest high ISAF is keen to finalise the numbers for the workshop which is aimed at supporting Member National Authorities in delivering the ISAF Offshore Personal Safety Course.

The workshop will include presentations, discussions and practical sessions which will include the use of the RNLI training pool equipped with both wave and weather simulation. Presenters include experienced training instructors, industry professionals, manufacturers and search and rescue providers.

This workshop is for national training managers or leading instructor trainers and attendances must be endorsed by their ISAF Member National Authority. The RNLI Training College is based in Poole, Dorset in Great Britain.

Henry Thorpe, ISAF Technical Co-ordinator, commented, 'This is the first time ISAF have run a course devoted to delivery of the training required by the Offshore Special Regulations.

'This will be an ideal opportunity to work with our members, share ideas and resources and to see how we can assist in the future. The recent publication of the 'ISAF Guide to Offshore Personal Safety' is a great example of this.

'The world class facilities at the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) will also enhance the workshop allowing a number of practical sessions. And we are keen to get as many nations along as possible.'

In addition ISAF would like to hold an Instructor Training Seminar to encourage MNAs that do not provide the course to start running courses. This is planned either immediately following the workshop or in Asia later in the 2014.

Contact Henry Thorpe (henry.thorpe@isaf.com) at the ISAF Secretariat to register interest in the workshop and/or the Instructor Training Seminar and for details about attendance and accommodation ISAF website
