Product of the Week- Safer and easier docking - SlideMoor

by Sail-World Cruising on 30 Sep 2013
Sailing boat using SlideMoor SW

This docking system, as the manufacturers say, is not a universal solution, but brings together many of the advantages of a floating dock with the appeal of a traditional fixed dock. The system, called SlideMoor, makes docking safer and easier for many docking situations while mitigating the risks associated with tidal change, wind and wave activity.

In the right place it can make docking much safer and easier.

The simple, maintenance-free system secures a boat tightly to a sliding bumper with two lines on one side only to take the guesswork out of tying up a boat, eliminating many of the common docking and mooring problems encountered by boat owners.

SlideMoor can be used on lakes, rivers, bays, canals and many other waterways. The system accommodates power and sail boats up to 90 feet and well over 160,000 pounds.

Similar to a floating dock, the system works with two lines on one side only, making it the fastest and easiest docking system on the market.

The other advantage of SlideMoor is that it eliminates the need for bow lines, stern lines, spring lines, fenders, bumpers, mooring whips, outer tie pilings, and other docking products and is a maintenance free system.

The manufacturers do recommend on occasion, or as needed, dropping the Slide to the bottom of the Track to remove any marine growth. The system will not bind and there is no need for lubrication.

SlideMoor systems are in over 26 countries.

As said before, SlideMoor is not a universal solution, but they have found solutions for nearly all types of boats and docking situations. Before purchasing SlideMoor, to see if it might be suitable for your boat, review the website and the literature on the possible applications of the system.
