Save Our Seas Ocean Racing Around Australia Record attempt on Brindabella has positions available to experienced sailors. The record attempt will take place in May 2011 and with 12 spots on the crew open to sailors around the world, this is a once in a lifetime opportunity to be involved in a world record attempt. What's more, you get to attempt this record on Australia's most famous racing yacht.

Earlier this year, Save Our Seas Australia founder, Ian Thomson set a new world record for the fastest solo circumnavigation of Australia. On returning he immediately started working on a campaign to get the monohull record off the sailors with disabilites vessel 'Kaz', a record he only just missed solo. He chose Brindabella for the record and along with her new owner, Jim Cooney, they plan o break through the 30 day barrier.

You can join the crew for this amazing record attempt by applying for a position. Taking a crew of 18, 6 slots are for proefssional crew and the final 12 are open to anyone with offshore sailing experience. All you have to do is send in your resume and then work to promote SOS Australia. For full details on the campaign visit www.sosoceanracing.com/australia.htm and download the application form.

The selection process includes trials in the Whitsundays and Sydney with a warm up event for the record being next years Brisbane to Gladstone Yacht Race at Easter.

The campaign is out to raise awareness of the damage plastic bags and plastic do to our oceans. Ian and Jim are extremely passionate about this issue and are out to make sure everyone in Australia knows about it. Ian's campaign Save Our Seas Australia has recently extended it's campaign to NZ and to Florida in the USA as people find the campaign something they can do themselves. This campaign will be a great event in Australian sailing as Australia's most famous racing yacht sets out to claim yet another record to add to her amazing history. You could be part. www.sosoceanracing.com/australia.htm
