Lark National Championships at Abersoch day 5

Lark Nationals 2011 Lark Nationals
Lark National Championships, hosted by South Caernarvonshire Yacht Club, are currently underway in Abersoch.

Lack of wind led to an immediate four hour postponement. With the forecast for 10 knots of wind at 3pm the race committee made all the necessary arrangements.

As the competitors assembled in the race area the Committee boat and rescue boats resembled a scene out of the Pirates of the Caribbean. Race Officer Jack Sparrow did a marvelous job of getting the gate start off. Up the first beat the fleet was split but it was that familiar sight of Alan Krailing and Tim Linsell taking the lead followed by Emma Harris and Ellie Bremmer. Steve Hall and Simon Haighton rounded fourth, needing a good result to regain second overall slot after two disappointing races yesterday. Krailing/Linsell extended their lead with Harris/Bremmer holding second and Hall/Haighton moving up into third.

With the championship tied up by Krailing and Linsell, the fight for second and third place remains very much in contention between Hall/Haighton and the Hydons. Full results available online.

Oh well time to go and dress up for Legends and Fairytales with a live band. It's sure to be a good party but what state will those crews be in Lark Class Owners Association website
