Land Rover Sydney Gold Coast Race- The Flight of Pretty Fly III

by Sail-World on 1 Aug 2014
Pretty Fly III - Finish line, 2013 Rolex Sydney Hobart - Day 4 Crosbie Lorimer http://www.crosbielorimer.com
Join Colin Woods and the crew of Pretty Fly III as they have a fast slide north in last weekend's Land Rover Sydney Gold Coast Yacht Race.

The canting keel Cookson 50 recovered from a slow start to ease through some marque competitors, and finish sixth over the line, and placing fifth on IRC in what was generally reckoned to be a big boat race.

Despite only light to moderate winds, Pretty Fly III hit a maximum speed of 23.4kts, and even the dolphins struggled to keep up in a short drag race captured on this video.

Shot by various crew members and edited by Boating NZ's sailing journalist, Ben Gladwell, who also crewed as bowman in the 384nm race billed as second only to the Rolex Sydney Hobart in the Australian Offshore calendar.

One of Zhik's offshore gear testers, Ben wore the latest Zhik Ocean range in the race, along with ZK Seaboots, Z-Fleece, and Zhik Hydrobase Thermals.
