Jura-based watchmaker, EDOX, situated in Les Genevez has now been named the official timekeeper of the global Extreme Sailing Series™, consolidating the Swiss watchmakers presence in the sailing world. The announcement is the latest in a succession of partner announcements from the original ‘Stadium Sailing’ circuit, following on from the news on Sunday that Official Technical and Lifestyle Clothing Partner Marinepool have renewed their commitment to Series until 2016.

EDOX join other Series partners that include global giant SAP, who signed as the Official Technical Partner to the Series in a three year deal in 2012.

Boasting almost 130 years of experience in watchmaking, EDOX has long been associated with the sea producing timepieces characterised by their close affinity to the water. In recognition of this new partnership with the Extreme Sailing Series™, EDOX is launching a special edition Grand Ocean watch, which will further bolster their marine connection. Measuring a generous 48 mm in diameter, the model is water-resistant to 300 metres and features a specially designed engraving to celebrate the collaboration.

Alexandre Strambini, EDOX Managing Director, said of the new sponsorship: 'We are delighted to be able to ally EDOX with the prestigious Extreme Sailing Series™. We have discovered that we are a strong match, and we share the same philosophy. We are the timekeepers of champions and we are proud to be able to offer the benefit of our experience to the Extreme Sailing Series™.'

Rémi Duchemin, CEO of Extreme Sailing Series organisers OC Sport said: 'In every sport timekeeping is an essential requirement, and that couldn't be truer of the Stadium Sailing format of the Extreme Sailing Series, where precision timing is crucial to running successful racing. EDOX are translating their expertise in timekeeping to sailing. They have already drawn inspiration from the Series to create the special edition timepiece and we are thrilled to be working with EDOX to promote our shared values of technology, engineering, quality and excellence. We are looking forward to developing this relationship over the next three years.'

An eight venue, three continent global tour is in place for 2013 and will be announced on the 31st January with an eight-strong fleet already confirmed for the Series opener at The Wave, Muscat, Oman, March 5th.
