RS Tera World Championship 2024 Already Breaking Records with Fully Booked Entry List

In a record-breaking first for the International RS Tera Class, the RS Tera World Championship 2024 registration has reached maximum capacity - selling out more than 3 months in advance of the event.

The final registration spaces were snapped up this week (Tuesday 23rd April) by the Estonian entries. A huge 120 boats have entered the Championships which will take place in Greve, Denmark, 5th-8th August 2024. This is nearly double the participation from 2023's Championship in Lake Iseo, Italy, and is the largest RS Tera event ever attended outside of the UK.

RS Tera International Class Chair, Berkley Green, is thrilled by the keen response to participation. "Six months ago we had no idea 120 sailors would enter so far ahead! Our Danish organizers have provided steady confidence to motivate RS Tera Class Association leaders around the world. This World Championship has all the stars aligned: a top venue, expert regatta management, broad support from RS and a nearly equal mix of male and female junior sailors from a dozen countries. I am reminded of the famous quote about a big fish, 'You're gonna need a bigger regatta'... "

Fast, fun and exciting, the RS Tera is a modern single-hander dinghy that gets juniors hooked on sailing. A 21st century alternative to the Optimist, it is a real sailing boat that is simple and easy to use. It is packed with features that make safety a priority (it comes up dry from a capsize and has a self-draining cockpit) without compromising on performance. With desirable features like these, it's no wonder the demand is building year-on-year, culminating in a World Championship sell-out event.

From entry level to international competition, the RS Tera is recognised globally. It is on the junior pathway for under 16s as an RYA British Youth Sailing Recognised Class and is also a World Sailing Recognised Class Association; the global governing body for sailing recognised by the Olympic International Committees.

The RS Tera World Championship has classes for the two rig sizes. 'Sport' is a 3.7m" Dacron sail suitable for juniors while the 'Pro' is a fully battened 4.8m" Mylar sail suitable for larger sailors. The 2024 Championship has 120 sailors entered from 9 nations: Sweden, France, Lithuania, Estonia, Ukraine, Czech Republic, Denmark, United Kingdom and the United States of America.

Peter Toft, Vice Chairman of the International Class Association, and Youth Sailing Leader at host club Sejlklubben Køge Bugt, can't wait for the Worlds in his home country.

Boasting 8 kilometres of white sand beaches and a host of modern amenities, Greve is a stunning location just a short distance from the Danish capital city, Copenhagen. The waters and shallow and safe and, off the water, Greve Stand has a wealth of lovely green areas where families can relax.
