BIA advises boat owners to maintain and equip boats over winter

by Natalie Walker on 19 Jun 2012
SW
The Boating Industry Association of NSW (BIA) is a not-for-profit industry organisation, which represents more than 90 percent of the retail boating industry in New South Wales.

With the colder weather upon us, the BIA advises recreational boat owners to use this quiet boating period to make sure their vessel is well maintained and equipped so they can launch safely back into their boating lifestyle when summer hits again.

The BIA promotes safe recreational boating and believes in the importance of having vessels’ mechanical and safety equipment regularly checked.

To assist boat owners, the BIA NSW through their Marine Industry Mechanical Repairers Association (MIMRA) offer a 50 Point Safety Check service.

Designed for trailer boats, the Check covers mechanical systems and equipment, safety systems and equipment, as well as safety aspects of the trailer.

The 50 Point Safety Check enjoys the valued support of BIA’s safety partners NSW Roads and Maritime Services, as well as Marine Rescue NSW, and marine specialist insurers Club Marine.

At any time of year Club Marine members qualify to receive a $50.00 premium rebate when they get a 50 Point Safety Check prior to policy renewal. For a short time only, the BIA invites all customers of the 50 Point Safety Check to enter the draw to win a Hobie® Kayak valued at over $1500.00. This great prize will go to one lucky customer that has the check done before 31 October 2012. Conditions apply so visit the website for details.

The 50 Point Safety Check is provided by trade qualified members of the Marine Industry Mechanical Repairers Association, and offered at a recommended retail price of $99 per inspection. Providers are located throughout the NSW coastal region, and mobile services are also available to Greater Sydney, Illawarra and Central Coast locations.
