In almost perfect conditions (OK, the wind was a bit light and patchy at the start), 36 Beneteau yachts competed in the three Divisions of the 2003 Metal Mesh Cup on Sydney's Pittwater today.

The Greyhound Division saw seven 40.7s, 43.7s & 47.7s competing. Bullrush (Bob Southerton) took the scratch and handicap double, followed over the line by another First 47.7, Saviour Faire (Malcolm Roe), with Afternoon (Greg McMahon), a 40.7 - the smallest yacht in the Division in 3rd.

In the Spinnaker Division, the First 33.7 Eau De Vie (Murray Hayward) was first on corrected time, a First 36.7, The Farr Side (Rod Jones) got the gun and was second on corrected time spoiling the 33.7 trifecta, the 33.7 Naiad III (Barry Jackson) finished third.

21 yachts started in the Non-Spinnaker Division and a diverse range of Beneteaus filled the places. First on corrected time was Excuse Me (Les Fisk) a First 33.7, second Hubcap (Herman Heiligers) an Oceanis 311 and third was the second largest yacht at the Regatta, Kat (Ian Awford) a Beneteau 50.

Fortune favours the Beneteaus!
Thank you, Huey… Some sun, and a tad of wind means it is time to go racing... Ahead of the annual Beneteau Pittwater Regatta by Flagstaff Marine the weather had not been all that grand. So, peaks of sun migrating to distinct patches, and the occasional zephyr turning into a waft, then on to a calm breeze was fortunate.
