Charleston Race Week and Marina di Loano - Two spectacular events

Sperry Top-Sider Charleston Race Week in Charleston and Marina di Loano in Italy are two spectacular Audi Melges 20 events taking place on both sides of the pond this weekend.

Charleston Race Week 2012 will be three days of impeccable racing for 30 of the class’ strongest and most competitive North-American based racing teams. A vast majority of teams competing call the U.S.A. home with more than eleven states being represented. Six teams have traveled from Canada and one from the British Virgin Islands.

All the top-actors are present in Charleston. Among those positioned to do well is defending Race Week champion Michael Kiss on Bacio. Kiss, who is currently running second in the 2012 USA Sailing Series Standings, will encounter stiff competition from the likes of Paul Reilly on Red Sky, Russell Lucas’ Shimmer and Marc Hollerbach’s Fu.

Simultaneously, the Audi Melges 20 Sailing Series 2012 commences this weekend in Marina di Loano, Italy. As many as twenty-one teams are expected to race and are set to enjoy some amazing social events in one of Italy’s most luxurious yachting locations.

The field of competitors is stacked with talent and diverse including reigning Gold Cup Champion Alessandro Rombelli on STIG.
