Liberty/Galaxy - notable for more than just her price

Most yachts featured in Sail-World Cruising are cruising yachts that many readers could envisage owning. You need to have a spare million or 30 before you could envisage owning Galaxy, once known as Liberty, but she is notable for more than just her price.

When she was launched in 1997, Liberty was greeted with much excitement. The launching was in Viareggio, the shipyard was famed Perini Navi, and the excitement was caused by her many ground breaking features.

Her flybridge was cause of most of the attention, and she set such a standard that all flybridge yachts since have tried to replicate her many features.

'Simply put, she raised the standard for all sailing yachts to come,' says her YPI Sales & New Construction broker, Matt Albert.

Now renamed Galaxy, she has always been a popular and highly successful charter yacht. Her warm, elegant interior, well-appointed forward cockpit, on-deck Jacuzzi and impressive range of water sports equipment make her stand out from the crowd, while her 10 guest/10 crew ratio ensures the perfect charter experience.

As a 54m twin-screw Bermudian ketch she can accommodate up to 12 guests in five staterooms as well as ten crewmembers on board.

'There are not many modern yachts in the world about which so much has been said when it comes to the experience of being on board,' says Head of YPI Charter, Fiona Maureso. 'All cabins are en-suite; the owner's suite even includes its own Jacuzzi.

'There is a lot of clean deck space for dining and sunbathing and she offers a superb cocktail area forward, Jacuzzi on the flybridge, elegant aft-deck dining, a mini gym and all the toys and tenders you could need for an amazing time on board.'

Following a comprehensive refit in 2007, Galaxia now boasts the latest in entertainment and communication systems. And with a possible range of over 4,000 nautical miles she is one of the most economical luxury yachts for charter.

The asking price is a mere $22 million. For more information, email webmaster@ypigroup.com
