Newcastle Cruising Yacht Club (NCYC) will again this year host the Newcastle to Port Stephens Race on Sunday 15 April 2012 starting at 1000 hrs.

With yachts racing to NCYC from Royal Prince Alfred Yacht Club (RPAYC) on the Saturday, NCYC has decided to provide free berthing on that evening to any competitors in the race to Port Stephens from Newcastle the following day.

'We are looking to better the number of entrants in this year’s race from the 26 yachts that competed last year across our IRC and PHS divisions. With the Pittwater fleet again racing to Newcastle on the Saturday and hopefully some Sydney and Lake Macquarie yachts including our race in their pilgrimage to Sail Port Stephens, we definitely believe a fleet of 30+ yachts is achievable this year' stated NCYC Rear Commodore Paul Gleeson, adding 'As usual we will put on some great NCYC hospitality at our club for the out of towners on the Saturday evening!'.

The NCYC Newcastle Port Stephens Race is a feeder race to the Sail Port Stephens Regatta which promises this year to be bigger and better than even with great fleets already entered in the NSW IRC Championships and various other divisions racing throughout the week.
