Over 140 students making up 20 teams from 16 of Hong Kong’s local and international schools and one school from Macau will be competing on the water at the tenth installment of the annual Inter-School Sailing Festival held at Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club’s Middle Island Clubhouse this coming weekend, 3-4 March.

Each of the 96 races scheduled over the two-day event will be hotly contested, with racing starting each day at 1000hrs. Teams are pitted against each other in a team racing format using Q’ba and Feva dinghies.

The action is not just limited to the water; the hard standing at Middle Island will be abuzz with onshore activities and entertainment including race commentary, music, food and beverage and throngs of avid spectators cheering on their teams.

Last year’s competition broke all records and we expect this year to be no different. Racing will no doubt be very close, and last year’s winners will be looking to defend their titles - South Island School in the Feva Division and Hong Kong Sea School in the Q’Ba division.

On Sunday, the event will conclude with a prize presentation.

RHKYC’s Sailing Development Manager, Richard Knight, is looking forward to the busy weekend; 'We are once again running at capacity for this event which means another tight schedule of racing and we just hope for a good steady wind over the weekend to allow us to fit in almost 100 races. We are expecting this year to be as competitive as ever, especially as we know that the teams have been training hard! We are very pleased to have the Aberdeen Boat supporting the event, and sponsors Neil Pryde Ltd and HOK Architects who play a key part in the Festival’s success.'
