Hot, hot, hot – the latest news

by Rob Kothe and the Sail-World Team on 16 Jan 2012
Prada AC45 launch - 16 January 2012, Auckland Richard Gladwell www.photosport.co.nz
The very popular America's Cup Challenger, Luna Rossa, set up and launched their new AC45 in Auckland, this morning, marking a major milestone in their America's Cup campaign.

Currently the team has 20 people in Auckland, working out of the old Team New Zealand base, and will expand this team to 60 people when the team begins sailing their AC72, currently under construction in Italy.

Naturally Sail-World brings you images from the launch.

A slight improvement in 29er skipper Tess Lloyd’s condition, according to the latest report distributed by Yachting Australia. We hope to hear more news tomorrow.

On Saturday we talked to David Eichmeyer from RacerXMarine.com.au about Prop Guards.

They were fitted to all the course boats and media boats at the Qingdao Olympic regatta and the same is going to happen for Weymouth. Prop Guards for all sailing club boats are obviously a MUST

Yesterday we posted the first of a three part feature on Australian of the Year and sometime catamaran sailor Simon McKeon… it’s a must read, gosh he talks sense.

A glimpse into another world, with our interview with Laser Radial Olympic bronze medallist, Lijia (Lily) Xu, the first ever Chinese sailor to win an Olympic medal, as far as we can tell it’s the first non-Chinese interview ever published with this talented sailor. Jaw dropping dedication….

The Australian Championships reports just keep coming and coming... and we thank everyone for that!!
