Doyle Sails Round North Island: Explore Racing first to finish in Leg 2

Several boats have finished 476nm Leg 2 of the Doyle Sails Two Handed Round North Island Race which restarted from Mongonui, at 0900hrs on Monday, heading for the second stopover in Waikawa, at the top of the South Island.

Explore Racing was the first to finish, mid afternoon on Thursday, they were followed by Motor Boat III (1448hrs), High 5 (1645hrs), with Kick Elliott 1050 Yachting (1645hrs) in fourth.

A Division 3 competitor, Kick beat half the Division 1 entrants, and ahead of all of Division 3.

From the Yellow Brick Tracker, Perfect Storm was fifth, and with Vixen Racing having a close tussle with Focus, with Vixen Racing carrying the day by 2.5minutes.

All results are provisional, a fuller list is expected on Friday.

Presented by naming rights sponsor Doyle Sails and organised by the Short Handed Sailing Association of New Zealand, the 2026 Round North Island Two Handed Race runs from 28 February to 15 March. Supporters of the event include the NZL Sailing Foundation, Henri Lloyd Australia & New Zealand, The Chandlery, and Sea Lovers Gin.
