Sabot Nationals and Sabot Week Bronwen Ince
The Gold Coast weather held up today producing a steady 10 knots of breeze for the competitors of the Sabot Championship and Sabot Week regatta.

Gold Coast local Kyle O’Connell took out both race 5 and 6 in the Sabot Championships, pushing himself up the leader board towards the regatta leader, Sophie McIntosh who had a difficult day today, producing an 11th and 24th. Second placing’s went to Cathy Pagett on 'Miss Caramel Latte' from southern New South Wales on an overall score of 11th, and Daniel Quinlan on 'Tiger Bite' from Victoria placing ninth overall. The bronze in both races went to another local, Zane Comdira on Conquistador getting him sixth overall.

Meanwhile, the Sabot Week competitors were turning the tables and shuffling the results around. Overall Back in Black is leading the regatta with Liam Geck and Xanthe Walker, also both south Queenslanders, keeping him on his toes. However, it was Michael Boult from Tasmania in 'Oceanic' that took out first place in race 5 and in race 6 it was Harrison White from south Queensland in 'Rapid Fire' who was continuing a good day after a third in race 5.

While the kids were out competing, a number of the mother’s indulged themselves in a spectacular 'high tea' provided by the Southport Yacht Club were they were forced to eat delicious cupcakes and pastries along with a couple of glasses of champers.

All in all it was another successful day at the Australian Sabot regatta. Gold Coast is proving kind with an improving weather forecast, putting offshore competing high on tomorrow’s agenda, possibly followed by a catch up Invitiation race.
