Alfa Romeo Farr 40 Summer Twilight Series

The Alfa Romeo Summer Twilight Series for the Farr 40 class will be raced over the next four evenings with 7 boats out enjoying the end of the summer sailing season on Sydney Harbour. With one race each evening over the next four evenings the three best results will produce a winner on March 20.

This is not the usual point score system for the Farr 40 class but is used to encourage owners to participate in the series.

The fleet raced in a shifty East- Nor' east breeze of 5 -10 knots with the fleet splitting on the up wind legs to try and take advantage of the varying breeze lines coming down the course. There were the usual tight mark roundings with the fleet being within 1 1/2 minutes of each other at either end of the course.

Syntegra Rapscallion was consistently in the placing's and managed to maintain a great gybe angle to the finish on the last down wind leg, which gave them the gun.

Point score after race 1:

1 Dick Voorderhake - Syntegra Rapscallion

2 Matt Allan - Kokomo

3 Rob Skinner - Weapon

4 Marcus Blackmore - Emotional Hooligan

5 Michael Quinn - Truant

6 Dennis McDonald - One Step Ahead

7 Richard Perini - Corinthian Doors
