The weekend of November 19-20 2011 sees the final regatta in the 2011 E5.9 Traveller Series with the North Island Champs.
The Elliott 5.9 fleet will be hosted as usual by Turangi Yacht Club, Stump Bay. The event will again be sailed in conjunction with the OK's.
Defending champion Slam Dunk will again be the boat to beat and Cam Horne's crew has its work cut out to pass Blurr and Brzo to retain the overall Traveller series for 2011.
The class is in good heart with a growing fleet and new owners and their crews getting to grips with these fun boats. The fleet is expecting to see one or two of the Wellington boats join the traveller series for the first time, plus the return of Erotic after a 2 year absence.
Offering close racing and great social events built around a North Island weekend regatta circuit, the Elliott 5.9 class is the perfect 3-person syndicate boat. The class is relatively low maintenance and is sailed by a crew of 3. No rail meat - everyone has a job! There is a 7-strong and growing fleet in Opua with new or prospective owners also in Auckland, Picton and New Plymouth.
